How does it get my Mii's face? I'm assuming it uses an API with my NNID to get it from Nintendo's servers, but I'm not entirely sure.

We use PF2M's NNID Mii grabbing API.

The fact that some people just make miiverse clones with such ease... it's amazing

I advise you to try not to make one for now. some raider recently raided this site. I quickly deleted his work in a few clicks, and added a bit more protection against bans.
